New year!

The bf and I had a very, verrrry busy December ('tis the season to be a musician) followed by two fun-and-family filled weeks celebrating the holidays. We also moved right before the craziness began, so needless to say, we're both ready for a return to routine and "normalcy".

I have a few resolutions that I'm committed to putting into action... They include:

1. Creating/allowing time for me. This includes working out, reading, and overall not over-extending myself (which I am soooo apt to do!)
2. Cook more/grocery shop smarter. I read sooooo many food blogs and never put my inspiration into action. It's healthier, cheaper and yummier!
3. Keep receipts/organize finances. This is a no-brainier, especially as a professional singer and someone who has multiple jobs.
4. Be creative. I like to sew, I like to knit, I looooove to dance, I like photography... And I want to do more of it!
5. Become a better blogger. Let's be honest... I love reading your blogs. I find you all to be clever and inspiring! Still, I often feel that I don't have anything to say.... But I DO! So I'm going to give it ago.

Here we gooooooo!!!

Diiiinner.

So it's the last evening of summer :( I start teaching again tomorrow, and rehearsals are already in full swing. The fall is shaping up to be busy, yet exciting- lots of fabulous things on the horizon.

I went to the grocery store this afternoon to stock up on lunch stuff, and decided to make Taco Pasta again. I made it a few weeks ago, the bf just couldn't get enough. It's way good.

It's a school night!!!

So. Good.

So the bf and I have gotten into "Friday Night Lights"... like really into it. We're watching one episode after another (which, frankly, is my favorite way to watch TV... obsess until it's over). Anyway, we just finished watching an episode over lunch that featured a quote/statement that I really like. For those of you who've seen the show, Tyra is applying to college and has finally written a good college entrance essay. See below.

Two years ago, I was afraid of wanting anything.
I figured wanting would lead to trying and trying would lead to failure.
But now I find that I can't stop wanting.
I want to fly somewhere in first class.
I want to travel to Europe on a business trip.
I want to get invited to the White House.
I want to learn about the world.
I want to surprise myself.
I want to be important.
I want to be the best person that I can be.
I want to define myself instead of having others define me.
I want to win, and have people be happy for me,
I want to lose and get over it.
I want to not be afraid of the unknown.
I want to grow up to be generous and big hearted, the way that people have been with me.
I want an interesting and surprising life.

It's not that I think I'm going to get all of these things,
I just want the possibility of getting them.

Nice, right? Sometimes it's so easy to be overcome by the mundane ins and outs of our lives. I feel like I get so caught up in my schedule, traffic, to-do lists and jobs that often times I forget what my ultimate goals are. I think it's nice to revisit these kinds of thoughts and wishes for ourselves. The overall possibility....

Watch "Friday Night Lights"!! It's gooooooood... and it's making me excited for football season!

Hello, world!

Well...

Here I am.

I've wanted to start a blog for a while, especially because I LOVE reading the daily musings of my friends and friends-that-don't-know-me-but-I-feel-like-I-know-them. My biggest misgivings weren't NOT that I wouldn't have anything to say or that it would be "unworthy". Nope... my biggest holdup was that the clever titles I liked were TAKEN!!! So I came up with this one. What do you think?

I recently moved in with my bf, aka Piano Man, and I'm loving having another person to cook for, since cooking for one is a pain in the arse. I just discovered and love Pinterest, so I've found all of these fabulous new recipes to try. Yippee!

Obviously, I'm a singer. I sing, I teach other people to sing, I talk about singing... you get the idea? This fall, I'm planning to hit the audition scene HARD, so you may perhaps hear about my crazy opera world. Look forward to that :)

Anyway, here goes! I'm off to the grocery store with my list in hand... look forward to some recipes!

Love,
L
